Emilio C. Pozzi, Jr., 74, of King City, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at Mee Memorial Hospital.
He was born Dec. 1, 1934, in King City to Emilio and Mary Pozzi.
A retired wilderness ranger and firefighter with the U. S. Forest Service for 32 years, Pozzi was known as the quintessential forest ranger, quiet and unassuming. He was a regular sight for many years in the Ventana Wilderness along with his pack mules. Pozzi was also known throughout the western states as a firefighters' fireman.
He had many nicknames, including Jr., Pozzi, and most memorable as Chief by his beloved Cachagua Volunteer Fire Dept boys, where he was chief for 30 years.
Emilio was preceded in death by his son, Douglas Pozzi; parents, Emilio and Mary Pozzi and numerous aunts and uncles here and in Switzerland.
Survivors: He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Barbara; daughter, Anna Lisk; granddaughters, Josie Lisk and Taylor Dougherty; brothers, Gerald Pozzi, Richard Pozzi and Greg Pozzi; sister, Barbara Pozzi; sister-in-law, Ileen Pozzi; nephews, Richard Pozzi, Jr. and David Pozzi, and great-nephew, Andres Emilio Pozzi and great-niece, Mary Adeline Pozzi.
Funeral services: 12 noon, Saturday, Nov. 14, at St. John's Catholic Church in King City.
Burial: To follow at King City Cemetery.
