Catherine Eberhart, a widow, donated land to the School Sisters of Notre Dame. In return, she asked that she be cared for, for the rest of her life -- her only child was Sister Mary Josepha Eberhard, SSND, in Milwaukee.

Mrs. Eberhart also donated three houses on Caroline Street to the Franciscan Sisters of Glen Riddle, Pennsylvania, for a hospital. The hospital, St. Joseph Hospital, moved to Towson, Maryland, in 1965.
