Edwin Blackford, son of Will Blackford and Fern Belle (Hines) Blackford was born, December 29, 1927 in Warren County, IA. He passed from this life Sunday, November 22, 2009 at Westview of Indianola Care Center in Indianola, Iowa at 81 years of age.

Edwin received his education in the Spring Hill Country School in Warren County. He was united in marriage to Antoinette "Toni" Marie Roach on February 19, 1955 at the Hyland Catholic Church and four sons blessed this union.

Ed served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Ed lived most of his life in rural St. Mary's until 2002 when he moved to Osceola. He worked with his son in the heavy equipment business and was a farmer. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, trapping, and finish training horses. He enjoyed watching cattle auctions on RFD TV, and racing. He enjoyed dancing at the Valair and in Woodburn and loved watching pro wrestling.

Those relatives who preceded Edwin in death were his parents; brothers, Harold, James and Glen; sister, Velma; nieces, Marilyn Taylor, Sharon L. Fitzgerald and Doris Richards.

He leaves to cherish his memory, 4 sons, Mike (Kathy) Blackford of New Virginia, IA, Dave (Deb) Blackford of Sparks, NV, Mark (Rose) Blackford of New Virginia, IA, Roger (Laura) Blackford of Juniata, NE; sisters, Marjorie (Art) Linsley of Indianola, IA, Bea Dutton of Osceola, IA, Maxine Norlin of Indianola, IA; 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
