John Weybright was born in Dayton, Ohio. He met his future wife, widow Anna (Royer) Iset from Carroll County, Maryland, while she was visiting her sister Catherine Wampler in Dayton.
John left Dayton by stagecoach on Feb. 25, 1837 and 10 days later arrived at Anna's father's farm near what is now Detour. They were married March 15, 1837.
He went to work for his father-law Peter Royer and the farm became his after Peter's death.

4. Elizabeth Weybright, Sep 23, 1840-Feb 18, 1860, married Israel Brown, widower from Pennsylvania; and
5. Jesse Weybright, Oct 10, 1842-Nov 27, 1845.
Married second: Susan Brown on March 9, 1865. They had two children:
1. Joseph L Weybright, Jun. 7, 1867 - Aug. 18, 1867; and
2. Emma Susan Weybright, Dec 14, 1868- ?, married William Howard Powell on April 25, 1894.
Deacon in the German Baptist Brethren (Now the Church of the Brethren).
In 1853 he was a member of the building committee that built Monacacy Congregation Church in Rocky Ridge, MD
