SOUTH BEND - On Wednesday, December 16, 2009, Aaron Hairston, 85, passed away at his nephew's home in South Bend, IN, under the care of his family and hospice. Aaron was born August 10, 1924, in Bassett, VA, to Tom and Martha Hairston. He made his home in Flint, Michigan, where he lived most of his adult life. Mr. Hairston was a veteran of the United States Army where he proudly served his country during World War II. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Saviour in 1955. When he showed signs of having genuine religion and qualifications of a deacon, he was ordained as a deacon and proved faithful to that office. He was a soldier, a Christian soldier, ever-ready to wage war with the enemy and stand firm until the battle was ended. Deacon Aaron Hairston was very active at Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Flint. He retired from General Motors August 1, 1989. He was an avid reader and was happiest spending time with his family. Aaron was a fun-loving person with a wonderful sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know him.
