She was born in Barren Fork, Kentucky on December 11, 1922 the daughter of the late Henry and Jane Lynch Watson. She was a School Cook and a member of the Taylor Ridge United Baptist Church.
Her parents, husband Homer Sumner, son Benny Sumner, daughter Evelyn Faye Sumner, brothers Elbert Watson, Gorman Watson, and Virgil Watson, sisters Hazel Stephens, Rosa Henson, Hattie Perry, and Mary Thorpe, 1 grandchild, and 2 great grandchildren precedes her in death.
Survivors include a daughter Joyce Lawson, sons Ray Sumner and wife Marilyn, Kenneth Sumner and wife Linda, Ralph Sumner and wife Sue all of Whitley City, Kentucky. A special niece Madeline Wright, 15 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren also survive.
