Albert was born in October in Pennsylvania as well as both of his parents. One document states his father was born in Germany but not proven at this point. He married Chloie (Chloe) Gill in 1896. In 1900 they lived in Potter, Portage township Austinborough, Pennsylvania and at the age of 32 he was employed as a contractor (believed to be the lumbering industry) and Chloe at the age of 20 was employed as a cook. (believed to be a lumber camp). They had one son Fred (2 years old) living with them at the time and Albert's brother Allen or Elmer who was employed as a bark peeler (lumber industry). In 1910 the family lived in Grand Traverse county, Mayfield township, Michigan. Albert at the age of 43 was a farmer and Chloe was 30. They had 6 children living with them; sons Fred age 11, Ralph F. age 9, Alfred age 7, Arlie age 2, Marion age 10 months and one daughter Mary E. age 5. In 1930 at the age of 62 Albert and Chloe at the age of 50 lived in Pentland, Luce county, Michigan. Family members at the residence included; their sons Frederick age 32, Ralph age 28, Arlie age 23, Marion age 20, Albert age 14, Frank age 12, their daughter in law Pauline age 18 (wife of Ralph age 28), grandaughter Lucile age 2, grandson Ralph infant, grandaughter Leana Riley age 6 and grandson Dale Riley age 4. (The Riley grandchildren were Mary Estella Kleeman Lawie-Riley (Albert and Chloe's daughter) and Elisha Kendrick Riley's children or Vernon Edward Lawie; unclear as to why Mary didn't live there as well and who the biological father was).
