"FREDERICK LOUIS "FRED" MATTINGLY, 73, died Thursday, June 8, 2000, at University of Louisville Hospital. He was a member of the New Haven Baptist Church where he was a past Deacon. He was retired from Seagram's Distillery in Athertonville after 40 years of service, a retired New Haven Town Marshall, and Nelson County Deputy Sheriff and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He was also a lifelong member of the New Haven Rolling Fork Fire Department. He was a native and a lifelong resident of New Haven and the son of the late James Proctor Mattingly and Blanche Lee Hornback Mattingly. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Mary Ruth Walters Mattingly of New Haven; a son, Richard Louis "Rick" Mattingly of Bardstown; a daughter, Mary "Suzanne" Mattingly Ball of New Haven; nine grandchildren; one step-great-grandson; three sisters, Naomi Nelson, Cheryl Johnson and Bernice DeMar, all of New Haven; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Sunday at the William R. Rust Funeral Home, Bro. Gary Sharp will officiate. Burial will be in the River View Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-9 P.M. Saturday and from 10 A.M. until the time of the services. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Lung and Heart Association. William R. Rust Funeral Home in New Haven is in charge of arrangements."
