Rites for Cephas Shull Civil War Vet, Are Held
Britt Old Soldier Was on General Sherman’s March to Sea.

Britt, May 6---Funeral services for Cephas Shull, Civil war veteran, who died at his home Monday afternoon, were held yesterday afternoon.

Mr. Shull was born Jan 10, 1847, near Cincinnati, Ohio. He was married to Sarah J. Peppers Feb. 11, 1868. To this couple were born eight children, four boys and four girls of which only two boys who live in Des Moines, and one daughter, Mrs. George Clark of Britt, are living.

Mr. Shull was a farmer until he joined the army. He made the famous “Sherman’s March to the Sea.”

Mrs. Shull preceded him in death May 25, 1904. Mr. Shull suffered a fall two weeks ago and has been in bed since. After the funeral services the body was taken to Dunreath for burial. There is now only one old soldier left in Britt. This is Charley Miller.
