A retired attendance officer for South Bend schools, Josephus Moomaw, 739 Diamond Ave., died at 11 p.m. Feb 5 (sic) in Lima Memorial Hospital, Lima, O. He was a brother of Dalton Moomaw, recently retired South Bend building commissioner. Ill two years, he was taken to Lima hospital from South Bend Oct. 9, 1953. Mr. Moomaw, one of 10 children of John N. and Sarah Fisher Moomaw, pioneer St. Joseph County residents, was born July 27, 1873, in German Township. In Niles, Mich., he was married to Miss Jennie Dye, who died May 5, 1950. He worked as a railway mail clerk until accepting the school post in 1920. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Robert C. Barton, of Lima; two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. L. L. Garber, of Zanesville, O., and Mrs. Frank B. Yoder, Temple City, Calif.; and two other brothers, W. F., of Altadena, Calif., and Clinton, of South Bend. Friends may call in the Orvis Funeral Home Sunday until services there at 2 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Mr. Moomaw belonged to Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Funeral services for Josephus Moomaw, 80, of 739 Diamond Ave., who died Saturday in a Lima, O., hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Orvis Funeral Home. Rev. Daniel W. Fowler officiating. Pallbearers will be Homer Fassnacht, Elton Richter, Harry Snoke, D. A. McElwain, Jack Fassnacht and Fred Moomaw. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Josephus Moomaw, 80, South Bend, Ind., father of Mrs. Robert C. Barton, 1717 Wendell Ave., died at 7:10 a.m. today in Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He had been a patient in the hospital since Oct. 8.
Mr. Moomaw had been a railway mail clerk on the New York Central Railroad and following his retirement was a South Bend Public School attendance officer.
He was a member of a pioneer South Bend family and of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in that city. His wife, Jennie, died in 1950.
Surviving in addition to his daughter are two grandchildren; three brothers, W.F. Moomaw, Altadena, Calif., and Clinton and Dalton, South Bend; two sisters, Mrs. L.L. Garber, Zanesville, and Mrs. Frank Yoder, Temple City, Calif.
The body will be removed from the Siferd & Son Funeral Home to the Orvis Funeral Home, South Bend, this afternoon, to remain for services at 2 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, South Bend.
