Walter "Doc" Berlinger, 92, of Orland died April 30, 2001, at his residence.
Visitation will be held today from 1 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 8 p.m. at the F.D. Sweet & Son Mortuary in Orland.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 3 at 11 a.m. at the IOOF Cemetery in Orland.
He was born March 22, 1909 in San Francisco to John and Lydia Berlinger. In 1927, he graduated from Orland High School.
On Aug. 6, 1934, he married Margaret Douglas in Reno, Nev.
During World War II he served in the Navy.
For 49 years, he worked as a grain buyer for Adams Grain. He also owned and operated Berlinger's Hardware and Furniture in Orland for 15 years.
He belonged to the Orland Volunteer Fire department, the American Legion and the Kiwanis Club.
His hobbies included fishing and hunting.
He was lifelong Orland resident.
Survivors include wife Margaret Berlinger of Orland; daughter Judy and son-in-law Cary Tommeraason of Woodlawn; grandson Tod Tommeraason of Woodland; granddaughter Jill Brigham of Santa Clara; and great-grandson Benjamin Brigham of Santa Clara.
Son Walt preceded him in death in 1983.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice in care of the mortuary.
