Wilma "Jean" Beets (Landrith), 79, Independence, Missouri, passed away December 24, 2009, at Kansas City Hospice Center. Visitation from 2:00pm to 3:00pm on December 30, 2009 with a memorial service immediately following at the Mount Moriah and Freeman Funeral Home located at 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri; Grave side service immediately following the memorial service (weather permitting) at Mount Moriah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Kansas City Hospice Center, American National Kidney Foundation, or the American Diabetes Association.

Wilma "Jean" Landrith was born October 30, 1930 in Parsons, Kansas to Leon and Eva Landrith. In 1936 the family relocated to the Kansas City, Missouri area where she graduated from Southeast High School. She began working at then City National Bank and Trust Company where she met, and soon after, married her lifetime companion of almost sixty years-Jack E. Beets of Kansas City, Kansas.

In addition to being a devoted wife, she was mother, teacher, and counselor to four children and four grandchildren-a responsibility that she earnestly and fondly cherished. She was an avid reader enjoying mystery novels and in her spare time enjoyed playing bridge and achieved recognition within bridge circles as a "Silver Life Master". She loved family get-togethers and was particularly fond of the Christmas Holiday.

She is preceded in death by her parents Leon and Eva Landrith; brother Elmer Pargen of Ft. Scott, Kansas; and sister Marge Scowcroft of Palm Harbor, Florida.

Survivors include husband Jack Beets of Independence, Missouri; sons Gary M. Beets and his wife Mary of Lee's Summit, Missouri and Greg A. Beets and his wife Michelle of Belton, Missouri; daughters Vickie L. Bruner and her husband Jerry of Independence, Missouri and Karen A. Kohl and her husband Al of Kearney, Missouri; grandsons Justin W. Beets and Travis E. Beets both of Lee's Summit, Missouri and Henry G. Beets of Belton, Missouri; granddaughter Kaitlyn R. Beets of Belton, Missouri; and brother Loren W. Pargen of Kansas City, Missouri. Arrangements: Mt. Moriah & Freeman, 816-942-2004.
