Peter Brine (spelled Bryne in military records), when 37 years old, enlisted in the Union Army as a Private. On 8/15/1862 he mustered into "I" Co. MN 9th Infantry. He was Mustered Out on 8/24/1865 at Fort Snelling, MN.

DEATH OF A VETERAN WHO WITNESSED
FRIDAY'S MEMORIAL DAY PARADE
Peter Bryne, the old soldier, over come by the heat while
watching the Memorial Day Parade, died Saturday evening at his
rooms on Eighth Street. He was 77 years old and for the past
ten years had been an inmate of the State Soldiers Home.
Bryne was born in the Isle of Jersey. In 1854 he came to St.
Paul, MN and later settled at Shakopee, MN. In 1861 he
enlisted in Company I, 9th Minnesota Infantry.
The funeral took place from Sleppy's Undertaking
Rooms this morning. It was under the auspices of Acker Post,
G.A.R. Internment was at Soldier's Rest, Oakland.
