Ai Laflin, 94 years old, a Civil War Veteran who guarded the White House when Lincoln was President, was buried Friday in Oakland Cemetery.
Mr. Laflin, a resident of Minnesota since territorial days, died Thursday at his home, 780 Fauquier Street.
He was born in Philadelphia and as a boy came to Minnesota with his parents, settling in the vicinity of Hutchinson, when the frontier was populated principally by Indians.
At the outbreak of the Civil War he joined the Union forces and fought at Bull Run, participated in General Sherman's march through Georgia and was on guard duty for a time at the White House, being relieved just a few days before Lincoln was assassinated.
After he left the army he farmed many years near Mankato and later came to the Paul.
He was the father of the late Mrs. Luella Hughes of St. Paul. No immediate relatives survive.
