Andrew Gregg was born in Cavan, Ireland in 1788, son of Robert and Elizabeth Elliot Gregg. When he was 17, he traveled to Manchester, England and in 1809, Andrew returned to Ireland to marry Margaret Howe Wiggins. In 1828, Andrew and Margaret and their family, immigrated to America. They lived in Hudson, New York until the time that they moved to Freehold Township, Pennsylvania. The deed record from Warren County Court House shows that Andrew bought his land which was just north of the Turnpike Cemetery, in June 1834. Their children born in Northern Ireland were: Robert b.1811 and John b.12 Nov 1813; The following children were born in England: Anne b.1816; James 1819-1824; Mary b.1822; Andrew b.1824 and Joseph b.1826. While living in Hudson, their youngest child, William H Gregg was born in 1830.(this short bio was written by his 3rd great-granddaughter, J.A.Winter, using sources from the Warren County Historical Society, Warren Co. 'Among these pioneers of Methodism in Sugar Grove are found the names of Gregg, Warner, Carter, Thorp,...On the 5th of October 1846, a meeting was held at the house of Andrew Gregg to consider the desirability and feasiblility of building a house of worship.'
It also states that Andrew Gregg was a class leader in the church.
