He was a native and lifelong resident of Putnam County and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, where he was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Palatka, where he served as a deacon. He was a rancher and an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary June Kinard Moody; brothers, Larry and Ray Moody; and sister, Geneva Knight.
He is survived by his son, Norman C. "Curtiss" Moody Jr. of Las Vegas; daughters, Norma Carrol DuPont (Michael) of Federal Point and Jennifer Byrd of Elkton; sister, Nona Matson of Palatka; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Sept., 14 at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Rev. Vernon Harkey officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Cemetery in Federal Point. No visitation has been scheduled. (Palatka Daily News Obituary did 13 Sep. 2016.)
