Born: 20 Jul 1864, Wolcottsville, Niagara, New York. Daughter of Charles and Caroline (Klee) Adrian
Married: circa 1882, Albert Franklin, Presque Isle County, Michigan. Albert was born Apr 1862 in Prescott County, Ontario, Canada, and immigrated to Michigan about 1880. Per the 1900 U.S. Federal census, he had not taken U.S. citizenship. Albert died in 1909, leaving Pauline a widow with four children. The following year, Pauline
Married: 02 Aug 1910, Wesley Hinton, Immanuel Ev Lutheran Church, Alpena, Michigan
Died: 18 Mar 1933, Alpena, Alpena, Michigan. Age: 68 Years, 7 Months, 26 Days

1900 U.S. Federal Census for Alpena Ward 6, Alpena, Michigan, enumerated on 07 Jun 1900. Albert and Pauline have been married 18 years. They have had seven children, but only 4 are living at time of 1900 census. They rent their home at 123 Huber Street. Albert's occupation is listed simply as "laborer". Household members include:
Name Age
Albert Franklin 38 (Head, b. April, 1862 in English-Canada [ie. Ontario], immigrated 1880 but has not taken U.S. citizenship; his parents both born in England; married 18 years; occupation: laborer)
Pauline Franklin 36 (Spouse, b. July, 1863 in New York state, her parents both born in immigrated from Germany; married 18 years; mother of seven, but only 4 living; keeping house)
Ida M Franklin 13 (Daughter, b. June 1886 in Michigan, attending school)
Ruth P Franklin 9 (Daughter, b. March 1891 in Michigan, not listed as attending school)
McKinley H Franklin 3 (Son, b. October 1896 in Michigan)
Churchill Franklin 0 yrs. 2 months (Son, b. May, 1900 in Michigan)

As noted, Albert passed away in 1909 and Pauline remarried the following year to Wesley Hinton. I could not find the family listed in the 1910 census. However, Wesley, too, in 1915, passed away, leaving Pauline a widow with chidren for the 2nd time. She next appears in the 1920 U.S. Census records for Alpena.

1920 U.S. Federal Census for Alpena Ward 3, Alpena, Michigan, enumerated on 02 Jan 1920. Pauline is listed as "widow" and "head-of-household". She owns her home at 120 11th Street. At home with Pauline are two sons, Hobart and James, and one married daughter, Violet, and her husband. The census lists no outside occupation for Pauline.
Household members include:
Name Age
Pauline Hinton 54 (Head, b. New York, widow, home owner but with a mortgage, no outside occupation listed)
Hobart Franklin 23 (Son, b. Michigan, single, occupation: laborer at paper mill)
James Franklin 13 (Son, b. Michigan, single, attending school)
William Weide 21 (Son-in-law, b. Michigan, married, occupation: laborer at paper mill)
Violet Weide 17 (Daughter, b. Michigan, married, no outside occupation)

1930 U.S. Federal Census for Alpena, Alpena, Michigan, enumerated on 02 Jan 1920. The first thing that should be noted is the name "Wesley". For what ever reason, even though he had been dead 15 years, the enumerator wrote "Wesley" rather than "Pauline". All other 1930 census data is correct for Pauline...just the name was entered in error. All of Pauline's children have now established homes of their own. Only youngest son James is still living at home with his mother, he and his young wife Hazel. His occupation is listed at "day laborer". Household members include:
Name Age
Pauline Hinton 65 (Head, first married at age 16, widowed (twice) ,home owner, home valued at $1,200.00; no outside occupation listed)
James C Franklin 23 (Son, married at age 19, occupation: day laborer)
Hazel Franklin 18 (Daughter-in-law, married at age 17, no children, no outside occupation listed)
