Mr Gus Adrian died at his home last Tuesday morning, February 26, 1907, after a short illness. He was attended by Dr Purdy and Martinson, who did all possible but seemed his time had come to depart from earth. He is survived by his wife and family of ten children who have our deepest sympathy. He was an honest industrious man and a kind neighbor willing to help another at any time and had many friends and acquaintances.
The funeral was held at the K.O.T.M. hall on Wednesday afternoon, Rev Davey officiating. His wife was sick in bed and not able to attend, but was comforted by having friends as best they could.
The beautiful hymns that told of "a home where we will all meet in a short time" were sung by Mrs. Chas. McCallum, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Hiber. Mrs Hiber was also the organist. A beautiful wreath of green was placed upon the casket and means "eternal life" in bible words.
The pall bearers were Dan Brown, Pat Kelley, Gus Shooks, Thos. Fitzpatrick, Will Hall and John W Salder. Mr Guy Downing was the funeral director and interment in Long Rapids's cemetery.
Mr. Adrian has some brothers living in Maple Ridge and other relatives who attended the funeral. Mrs. Louis Young, of Alpena, is a sister of the widow.
"O Thou faithful God of love,
Gladly I, Thy promise plead:
Waiting for my last remove-
Hastening to the happy Savior:
Breathe my latest breath in prayer.
"I to Thee my children leave.
Call my little ones Thy own.
Keep them while on earth they breathe:
Father of the fatherless
Leave not my widow alone,
Bless them all in their little home."
The above verses are from a friend.
Mr. Adrian was a member of the Grange.
