He was a Technician 5th Grade, assigned to Battery B, 29th Field Artillery Battalion, 4th Infantry Division. Battery B's mission was to provide supporting fire for the 8th Infantry Regiment assault troops on Utah Beach during the invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944. He was one of 39 men who were killed when LCT 458 hit a floating mine, exploded, and sank.
He was originally from Hudson, Pennsylvania.

MORE WAR DEAD INTERRED HERE
The names of men buried at the National Cemetery during the past three days were released today by the Superintendent's office there.
The re-interments, all of men who had previously been buried in temporary cemeteries overseas near where they died while serving in the armed forces during World War II, were made here at the request of next of kin.
They included: Tuesday, 2 p.m., Joseph Fedish, Wilkes-Barre.
