A native of Elkhart Lake, he was born Nov. 27, 1889, a son of the late George and Emily Rosenthal. He married Emma Schleunes of the Town of Schleswig, Oct. 27, 1914.
Following marriage the couple operated the Lite farm southeast of Kiel until 1941 when they moved to another farm across the road. He retired from active farming seven years ago.
During earlier years, Mr. Rosenthal had been a motor oil salesman in the area, also dealing in real estate. For 25 year he had served as treasurer of the former Rhine Center School District, and was a member of St. Peter's UCC.
Surviving are his wife; four sons, Arthur J. Jr., and Frederich J., Sheboygan, Louis, who operates the original home farm in Rhine, and Rueben, Plymouth; three daughters, Mrs. Edward Schaap (Harriet), Plymouth, Mrs. Alden Voland (Ardelle), R. 1, Cleveland, and Mrs. Dalhardt Freis (Judy), Kiel and 16 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two children in infancy and one grandchild.
Mr. Rosenthal, who had been a patient at Memorial Hospital five weeks, was there the past Oct. 27, the date of the couple's golden wedding anniversary.
