Conway Dr. Carl Leon Busbee, 74, a dentist and former Conway mayor died Thursday at his residence here.
Funeral services were held today at the First Baptist Church. Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery.
Dr. Busbee was born in Wagener, Aug 20 1896 a son of the late William Tilman and Ella Holman Busbee. He graduated in dentistry from Emory University (ASDC) in 1919. His first wife was the former Decie Earle and his second wife was the former Nell Page Lewis.
He was a city councilman of Conway for one term and mayor for 12 years. He was president of the South Carolina Municipal Assn. in 1941.
Surviving in addition to his widow of Conway are: a daughter Mrs. T. Luke Benson of Conway; a stepson the Rev. Harold P. Lewis of Conway; a stepdaughter Mrs. Mack Goldfinch of Conway; a sister Mrs. Myrtle Walker of Perry; three grandchildren a great grandchild and six step grandchildren.
