George R. Patterson,71,of 731 Beeson Drive,Winchester,died at 7 p.m. Monday as he was walking downtown. Mr. Patterson, who was retired,had operated a salvage business in Winchester.

A native of Ridgeville,he had spent most of his adult life in Winchester.

Mr. Patterson was State Treasurer of the Junior Order of United America Mechanics and was a past State Counselor of the lodge.

Surviving are his widow,Hazel;five sons, Raymond, James, Robert, and John,all of Winchester,and Harry,Lansing, Mich.,four daughters, Mrs. Beulah Rittenhouse, Winchester, Mrs. Virginia Anderson,Lansing, Mich.,Mrs. Lois Lewis, Richmond, and Miss Margaret Patterson at home;two brothers Jacob, Ridgeville and David,Mooreland;two half-brothers, Albert Winner,Marion and Dewey Foreman,Mesa, Ariz.,two sisters,Mrs. Mary Myers,Royal Center and Mrs. Winnie Strilker,Traverse City , Mich.,and 19 grandchildren,and a great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the Fraze Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Thursday in charge of Rev. Marshall Leggett. Burial will be in New Dayton Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday.

(Great-Uncle George was a son of Matthew and Rebecca Pheba (Switzer) Patterson. He married Great-Aunt Hazel in Randolph Co., IN on Apr. 21,1917. lps)
