During WW II she had 18 grandsons serving in the armed forces and 9 in training.
In honor of her 91st birthday Eliza received "Today's Valentine" from the Salt Lake Tribune's columnist Dan Valentine. He said, "It was a long overdue Valentine to a wonderful woman. Mrs. Mair has lived a good and full life–mother of 9, and 154 grand, 63 g.grand, and 20 g.g.grandchildren. Always a good neighbor, Mrs. Mair has brought good cheer wherever she has gone.
Now totally blind, she still manages a friendly smile to friends and strangers alike…"
