She was the owner of the Church Lane General Store in East Brunswick, New Jersey, for 15 years. She and her husband, Everett Orlando, moved to Madeira Beach, Florida, in 1995. Tessie was an avid reader and had read hundreds of books before being diagnosed with Temporal Arteritis in 2010, rendering her 100 percent blind. Her love of reading continued through the help of the Pinellas Talking Book Library which sent her digital audio books with a special audio book player free of charge to listen to through the last 18 months of her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved sons, Timothy, Gary and Brad Hartman; her sisters, Virginia, Gertrude; and brother, Harry J. Bloss Jr.

Surviving are husband, Everett Orlando; one son, Richard Hartman and wife, Jennifer; one sister, Mary Bloss Meadows and husband, Gene Meadows; sister-in-law, Pearl Bloss; daughters-in-law, Kathy Hartman, Linda Rexrode and Von Hartman; stepdaughters, Wendy and Joanne. She also left behind 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Tessie loved her family and her life and enjoyed it to the fullest. A Celebration of her life will be held at Lewis W. Mohn Funeral Home in Seminole, Florida, from 12 until 1 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2012.

In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations to be made in her memory to Light House of Pinellas, 6925 112th Circle, Suite 103, Largo, FL 33773; 727-544-4433 or the Pinellas Talking Book Society for the blind and handicapped. Tessie invited the Lord Jesus into her heart and was ready to go to her REAL HOME. She stayed as long as she could here with us after becoming blind. She was a very strong woman and endured much pain in her life. Even though things were tough, she kept her fun spirit and always tried to help others as best she could. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
