Samuel Roberts, 61, of 9763 Kentucky 144, Philpot, died Sunday, February 14, 1999, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. He was born in Daviess County, was a 15-year veteran of the Navy and was employed as a supervisor at NSA for 28 years. He was a member of St. William Catholic Church in Knottsville and Knights of Columbus. His daughter, Susan Nicolas, died in 1994. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Dorothy Payne Roberts; two sons, Kenneth Samuel Roberts of Philpot and Shawn Joseph Roberts of Owensboro; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Naomi Henry and Lura Payne, both of Owensboro; and several nephews and nieces. Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. William Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. William Church Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to American Cancer Society, 2229-A New Hartford Road, Owensboro, KY 42303. Memorial contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.
