Rosemary Dean, 90, of Syracuse, passed away Tuesday at home. She was born March 5, 1919, in Crystal Falls, Michigan. Her parents were Albert and Paulina Varians VanTroba. She was a communicant of Transfiguration Church. Rosemary worked for CNY Home Aides for 24 years, retiring at the age of 84. She was predeceased by her husband, Horace, in 1997 and is the last of 10 siblings. Her family includes her daughter, Kathleen (Richard) Findlay of Columbus, Ohio; her grandchildren, Jennifer Conklin and Robert Conklin; her great-granddaughter: McKenzie Welch; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, at Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hour will be 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home, 3111 James Street, before the service. Donations may be made to PACE CNY, 100 Malta Lane, N. Syracuse, NY 13212 in Rosemary's memory.
