Thelma Ponsock, a dearly beloved wife, mother and grandmother, left this world and went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ at 7:55 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2001. She was a native of Livingston and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. Thelma was 78 years of age and was born on Dec. 17, 1922. She now joins in eternal life with her beloved husband, Joe Bert Ponsock Sr.; her parents, Clyde and Mattie Henderson; and her foster parents, Charlie and Mary Anderson.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Mona Ponsock of Baton Rouge; three granchildren, Allyson, Alicia and Joe Bert "Trey" Ponsock III, Baton Rouge; two sisters, Marie Averette of Livingston and Lila Fayard; and a brother, Leonard Henderson, Chalmette.

She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, a volunteer at St. Anthony rectory and the St. Anthony Food Bank. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, gardening and cooking. She will live forever in our hearts.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church, 2580 Tecumseh St., Baton Rouge, LA 70805. The family also greatly appreciated the kindness and care of Hospice of Baton Rouge.
