Abernathy Varner (1933–2003), and Gladys Abernathy Hughey (1937–2016); son, J. C. Abernathy (1920–1997); sister, Lena Carrie Abernathy Alley (1905–2000); brother, Fred Abernathy (1889–1973), Paul Abernathy (1894–1972), David Abernathy (1896–1980), and Boyce Lee Abernathy (1910-1995); and two grandchildren.
Also predeceased by siblings, Martha Abernathy McKelvey (1891–1936), Mamie Lee Abernathy McAbee (1900–1936)
Funeral services were held at 11:00 am at Canaan Baptist Church by Rev. A.V. Kirby and Rev. Dallas Mathis.
