Always went by E.S. or "Dock".

WWII draft registration card has name as Shumpard.

Son's obituary has it spelled Schumpert.

From Tina McCann (Thanks!)
Ernest Schumpert Canterbury received his nickname 'Dock' because he was named after his maternal grandfather's (Dr. Thomas Mask) best friend Dr. T. E. Schumpert, who started Schumpert Hospital and nursing school in Shreveport in the early 1900's.

Dock was a mechanic by trade. It was said by all who knew him "he could fix anything". A gifted talent in which he passed to all of his sons.

He and his wife, Camille A. Pike Canterbury, lived in the Hurricane Community and had 8 children.
