Obituary Memphis Reveille dated August 19, 1875:
Died---POE. August 13th, 1875 at her home seven miles northwest of Memphis, Missouri. Sarah, wife of Henderson G. Poe. Mrs. Poe was born in Preston County, West Virginia, where she was married to her now bereaved husband in 1847. The family immigrated to Iowa and settled in Van Buren County in 1854. Moved to Scotland County in 1860.
Her sickness was protracted and her suffering intense. Yet she found the religion of Jesus, which had been her stay in life, her comfort and solace in death, and with exultant exclamations of victory, she passed to the home of the good. She leaves a husband and eight children to sorrow, yet not as those having no hope.
