The body of a man identified as Alexander Higdon, 61, of 2002 W Jefferson,was found floating in the canal at 26th at 930am yesterday. He had been missing from his home since January. Deputy Coroner John Connolly said the body, fully clothed, had been in the water about three weeks. He planned an investigation into the cause of death.Higdon formerly was employed by the Inman Furniture Company, 2817 W Broadway. Survivors are his wife, Mrs Viola Higdon; four sons, Apprentice Seaman Ollie Higdon, Great Lakes, IL, Everett Higdon, Lawrence Higdon and Luther Higdon; three daughters, Miss Denna Higdon, Mrs Alta Marlow and Mrs. Orena Sweeney; five brothers, Jesse Higdon, Leithchfield, KY, Robert L Higdon, William S Higdon, Joseph Higdon and Vernon Higdon and a half sister Mrs Elizabeth Pryor, Cincinnati. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM today at Bax'x Chapel. Burial will be in Portland Cemetery.
