In the year 1873, her husband died. Since then she had made her home among her children, living the most of the time with her daughter, Mrs. E. W. Vanwye. She was the mother of 8 children, 3 boys and 5 girls. All lived to be grown and married except one daughter, Almira, who died Jan. 1864. Her oldest son and oldest child died one year ago. There names are as follows: George, Almira, Lucy, Mary O., Electa, Charles, Josephine and Samuel S. Lucy is the wife of Enoch W. Vanwye; Mary O. is the wife of Robt. Boyd; Electa is the wife of Wm. H. Emberton, all live in Sullivan county, Mo. Charles is a physician and lives in Browning, Mo. Josephine is the wife of W. W. Jones and lives in North Salem township, Linn county, Mo. Samuel is a farmer living in Harper county, Kansas.

Mother was all that is contained in that most sacred earthly name, devoting her life to rearing her childrento be honorable and upright in every respect. She was a Christian from principal, uniting with the Baptist church early in life. She adorned her profession in Godliness, setting an example before her children. She died as she lived, a model lady, respected and loved by all who knew her.

And now dear Mother, farewell in sadness we say, as we will see that face on earth no more. But oh, what a consolation to know you were prepared for death's cold embrace. Help us, dear Lord, to be as ready for the King of Terror as she was is our prayer. Amen. Wm. W. Jones" The Milan Republican (Milan, Missouri), August 28, 1890
