GEORGETOWN, Ohio — Mrs. Maude D. Dingess, 88, of Georgetown, Ohio formerly of Harts, was born October 19, 1921, at Harts, a daughter of the late Harve and Flora Farley Dingess. She departed this life Sunday, January 24, 2010 at Georgetown.

Also preceding her in death was her husband, Harve Dingess, on May 2, 1999; grandson, Shawn Dingess, and siblings, Sally Dingess, Grover Dingess, Thelma Huffman, Hollena Adams, Glen Dingess, Lace Dingess, Harvey D. Dingess, Mary Mullins and Pansy Hamlin.

Mrs. Dingess was a loving and wonderful mother and homemaker. She was a civilian clerk-typist for the U.S. Army during World War II and a teacher's aid for over 20 years at Hugh Dingess Grade School. She loved music, arts, sewing and quilting. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include four children: Sharon Kaye McAfee of Georgetown, Gloria Nagy of Luray, Va., Dwight Dingess of Harts and Sandra Wood of Cincinnati, Ohio; five grandchildren: David Nagy, II, Dwight Dingess Jr., Deidre Dingess, Katelyn Flora Wood and Jonathan Wood; great-grandchildren: Ally, Austin, Destiny, Stephan and Kayla Dingess; one great-great-grandchild, Bailey; one brother, John Dingess of Hartford, Conn., and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, January 29, at the Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services at Chapmanville with Rev. Bobby Adams officiating. Burial will follow at the Dingess Family Cemetery at Harts.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Hope, Mt. Orab, Ohio 45154.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
