Sarah and Thomas had at least five children: Uriah, William, Josiah, Eli and Joseph. Joseph died in infancy in 1799, while the other four joined their parents in Perry County, Indiana soon after 1807.
Some family trees erroneously claim that Sarah Henry Cummings was the sister of Virginia Governor Patrick Henry. According to the Patrick Henry Museum in Virginia, Patrick's sister Sarah was born about 1740 and married a British merchant named Thomas Thomas, who took her back to England. When Patrick's mother died in 1784, she mentioned each of her living children specifically but there is no mention of her daughter Sarah, so she presumably died before her mother, while the Sarah Henry who married Thomas Cummings lived until 1825. It's possible that Sarah Henry Cummings was a cousin of Patrick Henry's, but more research is needed to prove the connection.
