Mr. Cornelius Wilson of Jabez died at his home on Wednesday, February 1, after a long illness. He was 78 years of age.

A son of Moses and Bernettia McGowan Wilson, he was born and reared in Russell County. He was married to Jewrettia Frye, who preceded him in death many years ago, and to this union was born the following children, Sylvia Walters, Faubush, Lela Wilson, Faubush, Flora Foster, Jackson, Mich., Orpha McClendon, Wilkinson, Ind., Betty Langley, Greensboro, N.C., Orval Wilson, Indiana, Marvin Wilson, Faubush, and James Wilson, Faubush.

He also leaves 24 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, as well as a brother, Martin Luther Wilson, Russell Springs and a sister, Sarah Ann Wilson, Jabez. There are a great number of other relatives, among whom are Judge Terrill A. Wilson and Attorney Leonard E. Wilson, nephews.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon in the Jabez Baptist Church conducted by Rev. James Gadberry and Rev. Henry Popplewell. Burial was in Military Springs Cemetery, with Bernard Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Jabez Man Dies After Year's Illness.

An illness of approximately a year's duration resulted in the death of a Jabez farmer, Cornelius Wilson, at his home Wednesday, February 1. He was 78.

Immediate survivors include five daughters and three sons: Arvil Wilson, Indiana; Marvin Wilson, James Wilson, Lela Wilson and Sylvia Walters, all of Faubush; Flora Foster, Jackson, Michigan; Orpha McClendon, Wilkinson, Ind., and Betty Langley, Greensboro, N.C.

There are also 24 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, 1 sister and 1 brother; Martin L. Wilson, Russell Springs, and Sarah Ann Wilson, Jabez.

The funeral was held Friday, February 3, 2:00 p.m. at the Jabez Baptist Church. Ministers were Rev. James Gadberry and Rev. Henry Popplewell.

Interment, arranged and directed by Bernard Funeral Home, was in Military Springs Cemetery, Jabez.
