Suggested edit: Rev. Andrew Melvin Moore, 87, retired evangelistic minister, died at a Marietta hospital yesterday at 6 pm after a serious illness of three weeks. He had been in declining health for six months. Born in Jackson County, N.C., he was the son of the late Jerry and Mary Woods Moore. His early life had been spent in Sylvia, N.C., and for 50 years he had lived in Greenville except for a few years in Oconee County. For six years he had lived with his daughter, Mrs. C.N. Riddle at 5 Ross St. Brandon. For many years he had done evangelistic work in Greenville County and surrounding areas and had been interested in all phases of religious work. He was a member of Lindall Avenue Church of God of Prophecy and was a member of the Men's Bible Class. Before his retirement he was employed by Brandon Mill in the weaving department. His wife, Mrs. Octa Brown Moore, died Nov. 29, 1944. Surviving are two daughters; Mrs. C.N. Riddle (Annie) and Mrs. R.S. Goforth (Marvie) of Greenville; five sons, Carl E., Amon M., Floyd, J.P., and C.S. Moore of Greenville; half-sister, Mrs. Lodelia M. Smith of Travelers Rest; three half-brothers, Alvin Moore of San Diego, Calif., Mitchell Moore of Greenville and Thomas L. Moore of Miami, Fla.; 15 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Thomas McAfee Funeral Home. The family is at the home of Mrs. Goforth, 216 Mary St.
