CANCER PROVES FATAL TO MISS MATTINGLY, 46
Miss Margaret Virginia Mattingly, 46, of St. Francis, died at 3:14 a.m. Monday at Mary Immaculate Hospital after two years' illness of cancer. She had been hospitalized 23 days. She was a life long resident of St. Francis, a daughter of the late John Artie and Mary Mattie Mattingly Miles, and was never married. In recent years, she had owned and operated the H & M Restaurant there. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church. Surviving are three brothers, Spencer Mattingly, John Mattingly, Jr., and Robert Mattingly, all of St. Francis; three sisters, Miss Mary Lucille Mattingly and Mrs. Aaron Miles of St. Francis, and Mrs. A. T. Rucker of Loretto, and two half-sisters, Mrs. Otho Bishop Peake of Loretto, and Mrs. John M. Roberts, St. Francis. The body is at Mattingly Funeral Home, Loretto. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. today at St. Francis of Assisi Church by the pastor, Rev. John Talbot Spalding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be A. T. Rucker, Jr., Jim and Bobby Miles; Billy, Tom and Leon Mattingly.
