I believe they were married about 1868, but have not yet found their marriage record. She would only have been 22 years old then, but also suspect she may have been married before as I have a picture of her with another man, not Samuel, and as you can see by the one attached with this gentleman apparently erased from the picture.
Her oldest child was Stirly Philby born 1869 in PA. Her photo was taken in Iowa where Samuel's family (except he and Alice) eventually moved about 1875, and his brother John Willay lived in Sioux City by 1884. Maybe this is where they met.
According to the bible records they must have moved to Washingtonville, Mahoning, OH by 1871 as another son, John Willay was born there. And yet another, Samuel Arthur in 1874. David was born in 1879. These last 3 boys died young, the first two in 1875 and David in 1880. So she tried again and finally in 1884 she gave birth to a girl. But, both Alice and the girl child died as a result.
The bible shows these children and Alice buried in Washintonville Cemetery, Washingtonville, Mahoning County.
