Henry was injured in an automobile accident on Nov. 9, 1939 while returning home from Taft on the highway near Buttonwillow, Kern County, California. There were five other people in the car with him. His right rear tire blew out upsetting the car and it went out of control and overturned, breaking his back in two places. There was an Inquest held on Nov. 15, 1939
He had fractures of the spine in the cervical and lumbar regions with injury to the spinal cord in those areas. He died at 2:30 am on the 13th of Nov. 1939. He is buried in the Westside Cemetery, Taft, Kern Co., CA.
