"Robert Braden, the sixth son of William and Euphemia (Jackson) Braden, moved with his parental family from Scott Co., KY to Decatur Co., IN about 1821. He married Permelia K. Anderson on Dec. 20, 1838 in Decatur Co., IN and, for at least one year following their marriage, the couple lived in the household of Robert's sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Luther Donnell near Clarksburg, IN. Ultimately Robert purchased ground in Clay Twp. near Ewington. Here, he and Permelia raised their four sons and two daughters, while operating a successful farming enterprise.. Following the 1857 death of his brother, Jackson, Robert was appointed guardian of his niece, Mahala Braden."

"The Bradens were charter members of Milford Christian Church where Robert served as a deacon for many years. In 1885 the couple united with the Hartsville Christian Church. Following Robert's death, Permelia moved into the city of Greensburg, where she lived with her son Jeremy."
