Age 94, of Ann Arbor, passed away February 14, 2010 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Lucia was born on March 31, 1915 in Lowell, Massachusetts, the daughter of George and Andromache Fokas Gagalis. After graduating from Ann Arbor High School she was employed by the State of Michigan Highway Department. Later Lucia became a licensed Electrologist who was highly regarded and known to be one of the first in this field. She consistently received numerous referrals from local doctors and cosmetologists. She was a long time resident of Ann Arbor and resided in the family's West Side home for 72 years. She remained an active member of Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and the "Daughters of Penelope" within the church. Lucia is survived by sisters, Elizabeth Wirth of Ann Arbor and Mildred (John) Whittemore of Falls Church, Virginia and brother Pericles (Patty) Gagalis, of Ann Arbor. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Patricia Abbott Shirey, and brothers, James (Mafalda) Gagalis and Christos (Jean) Gagalis. Seventeen nieces and nephews along with two sisters-in-law survive her. The family would like to graciously thank Tula Prokos and Marge Whitacre for their generous care giving during Lucia's time of need.
