John Copinga 1951 ~ 2006
John Copinga, 54, passed away April 25, 2006, due to complications from lymphoma. John was born in Groningen, The Netherlands and immigrated to the U.S. in 1953 with his family. He is survived by his partner Scott Chaffin, brother Hyo (Charlotte) Copinga, sisters Peggy (Huib) Hendriks, Marijke (Michael) Thornell, Lola (John Degen) Copinga, sister-in-law Sue Copinga, many nieces, nephews and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jan H. and Stoffe E. Copinga, sister Hennie, and brothers Menco and Hank. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the University of Utah Hospital and the Huntsman Cancer Institute for their kindness and compassionate care. Particular thanks go to Drs. Kristen Ries and John Ward. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in John's name to the University Hospital or the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Friends are invited to join the family for a celebration of John's life, Thursday, May 4th, 6-8 p.m. at the home of Hyo Copinga. Please call for details. At John's request his ashes will be scattered near his home town at a later date.
