Death of Mrs. Jacob Ewing, Aged 85 Years

The death of Mrs. Jacob Ewing occurred on August 29, at the age of 85 years, the date of her birth being November 12, 1850. Her maiden name was Alice Lawson and in April, 1866, she was wedded to Mr. Ewing, who passed away on May 11, 1931.

Eleven children were born to this union of whom three preceded her in death. The children's names are Mrs. Clara White, Mrs. Cora Brainard, Mrs. Alfreda Smith, Mrs. Bertha Thomas, and Charley, William, George F. and Edward Ewing, all of whom live near Postville. Besides her children she leaves 52 grandchildren, 67 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. She leaves also one sister, Mrs. Will White of Lawton, Oklahoma, and three brothers, Jas. Lawson of Frederick, Oklahoma, and Will and Henry Lawson of Postville.

A large number of friends gathered at the Forest Mills church Sunday to pay the last tribute of love and friendship at services conducted by Rev. Van Nice, and burial was in the old Evergreen cemetery beside her loved ones gone before.
