Florence A. Bakkum, 79, Moorhead, MN, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.
Florence Anona Stumbo was born Sept. 3, 1923, to Burley and Carrie (Anderson) Stumbo on a farm in Becker Co., MN. Florence attended school in Hitterdal, MN, and Ulen, MN. She attended Moorhead (MN) State Teacher's College for two years and taught in country schools. In 1957 she received her BS degree from Moorhead State Teacher's College and taught at Edison Elementary School and Probstfield Elementary School, both in Moorhead.
On Jan. 28, 1945, Florence married Carl Bakkum. He survives, along with four children, Robert (Georgia) Bakkum, Fargo, Steven (Joyce) Bakkum, Hutchinson, MN, Kathleen (Ted) Doe, San Diego, CA, and Roselyn (Steve) Johnson, Orlando, FL; and nine grandchildren.
A grandson, Tyler Johnson, and her mother and father preceded her in death.
Florence was active in Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Moorhead, and Epiphany Lutheran Church in Apache Junction, AZ, where they spent the winters. Florence was loved by anyone who knew her and will be missed by her family and friends.
Visitation: Friday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Funeral: Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at 2:00 PM in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
