Joseph funeral
The funeral for albert John Joseph, 67, vice president and general manager of the Shenandoah Valley Livestock Sales, Inc., will be conducted 4 p.m. today at Ashbury United Methodist church by the Rev. H. Hasbrouck Hughes Jr.
Burial will be in the Woodbine Cemetery.
Mr. Joseph, of 640 S. Main St., Harrisonburg, died Friday evening at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 14, 1908 in Ottobine and was a son of the late William M. and Sadie Arey Joseph.
Mr. Joseph founded the Shenandoah Valley Livestock Sales Inc. in 1935 and was instrumental in establishing the Blue Ridge Livestock Sales in Charles Town, W. Va. And the Hagerstown Livestock Sales in Hagerstown, Md. He was a past president of the Virginia Competitive Livestock Association.
Mr. Joseph was a member of Minute Men during World War II and was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. He was a former member of Hose Co. 4 and Fire Co. 1 of Harrisonburg.
On Dec. 10, 1941 he married the former Louise Yancey, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, William Y. Joseph of Mt. Solon; two daughters, Mrs. Virginia J. constable of Dayton and Mrs. Jacklyn J. Driskill of Alexandria; three sisters, Mrs. Dave Liskey and Mrs. William Shifflet, both of Harrisonburg, and Mrs. Joseph Kagey of Dayton, and three grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to either the American Heart Association in care of Dallas Claytor, Virginia National Bank, 57 S. Main St., Harrisonburg, or to the Virginia Lung Association, Rt. 1, Box 6, Verona.
