Pearl "Peggy Everett married Dennis Johnston Maynard, Sr. They had no children together, but she was the step mother to Dennis Johnston Maynard, Jr., Asa Benjamin Maynard, and Lamar Maynard.
Mrs. Maynard was a member of the American Cancer Society since the early 1960's, serving as the first woman president at the local and State board level. Served on the Board of Directors of the Arthritis Foundations, Knoxville Women's Club, and as Chairman of the Garden Gate Garden Club and Belmont West Garden Club; remained active in Beta Sigma Phi and Church Street Women United at Church Street Methodist where she was a member since 1939. She was employed by the Knox County Election Commission and was an avid supporter of the Democrat Party where she served in many capacities. Retired from the Veterans Administration as a medical secretary.
