LT (J.G.) Ritchie resigned his commission in Dec. 1930 in order to work for the Glenn L. Martin Co. as a test pilot. While testing a new Martin dive bomber for the Navy at NAS Anacostia, he was killed when his aircraft came apart during a test dive.
Survived by his wife, the former Miss Elizabeth Thomas, of Baltimore.
