Jeremiah Wood was lieutenant governor of New York State under Governor Nathan L. Miller in 1921-22. He was born in New York City, and graduated from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute and Columbia Law School.

He was chairman of the Nassau County Republican Committee from 1913 to 1933. Wood also was Hempstead Town Counsel for about 20 years until 1938. He represented Nassau County in the New York State Assembly in 1912.

On September 26, 1922, he stepped down as lieutenant governor in order to be appointed as a judge of the State Court of Claims. Wood ran in 1925 for a seat on the New York State Supreme Court, but was defeated. He dropped out of politics in the late 1930s.
