He married Frances Armsey, June 9, 1946 and she preceded him in death May 27, 1978.
He was a pipefitter and a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church. He was also a World War II veteran; a member of American Legion; Masonic Lodge; Shrine Club; and Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 157 in Terre Haute, IN.
Survivors include Patsy Barche; two sons, Dr. Michael and Dr. John C. Elder; a daughter, Jodi Francis; a sister, Mrs. Avis Hull; three grandchildren; two nieces and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and a sister, Evelyn Marks.
Services were in Summers Funeral Home with burial in Haven Hill Cemetery.
