Mr Cathcart was born December 24, 1885 in Mahoning Township, Armstrong County (Distant), a son of the late Samuel B Cathcart and Mary (Houser) Cathcart. He was a retired farmer and for the past 15 years worked for the New Bethlehem Burial Service. He was a member of the Oak Ridge Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Nora (Hepler) Cathcart; one daughter, Margaret Cathcart, who preceded him in death; four sons, Edward E., of Mercer, Plummer L of Imperial, Ralph M of Clarion RD 2, George W., of Dover, Delaware; one brother, Lawrence W Cathcart, of New Bethlehem RD 2; one sister, Mrs. Silas (Annabelle) Yount, of Shippenville; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Charles D Alcorn Funeral Home, Hawthorn. Funeral services were held at the Oak Ridge Methodist Church at 2 pm Sunday, June 20, with the Rev. L B Owens, church pastor, officiating.
Furial followed in the family plot at Oakland Cemetery, Distant.
